Where it started
We wanted to show that we can run an application: many pages, two languages, continuous maintenance, real users.
At the same time we wanted a tool that solves a common problem. Convert a file online and it usually lands on someone else's server first.
What we assumed
If the tools compute in the browser instead of on a server, the upload disappears entirely. That is not only better for privacy, it is faster and cheaper to run.
What did not work
A static route sat underneath a dynamic one, and the language switch led nowhere in both directions. Both test suites stayed green, because no test case covered exactly that.
The lesson reaches beyond that project: green tests prove that what is tested works, not that the site works. Since then we check route changes against the running site, not only against the test cases.
What we built
Around 60 tools: calculators, unit converters, text tools, QR codes, PDF and file tools.
The file tools compute entirely in the browser. There is no upload, because none is needed.
Fully bilingual, with its own address per language and its own sitemap.
Result
The platform is in production, gets extended continuously and is our reference for applications rather than pages.
